Adventure programmes

Training ground:
the entire Kumaon Himalaya.

Rock, water, snow and sky — every discipline The ICE teaches has been practised here for a quarter century, with safety learned the hardest way: in real rescues.

Rock

Rock Climbing

Our founding discipline. 56 training camps and 5 competitions on the natural crags around Pithoragarh have produced climbers who went on to Everest, Pumori and Dhaulagiri.

Programmes run from one-day taster sessions for schools to multi-day certification-style camps: anchors, belaying, rappelling, top-rope and lead progressions — on real Himalayan rock, not a plastic wall.

Waterfall Rappelling

Our signature: 25+ rappelling camps, crowned by the Birthi Fall Rappelling Expedition 2020 — a descent beside a 126-metre curtain of Himalayan water, flagged off by the District Magistrate of Pithoragarh.

We rig every descent with double-safety systems and instructor lines. If you can walk down a staircase backwards, we can teach you to walk down a waterfall.

Rafting & Snow Skiing

River rafting on the Kali and Gori — border rivers with grades to match every crew, from family floats to serious white water. Five structured training programmes conducted to date, alongside kayaking exposure camps.

Snow skiing camps run in the high Kumaon winter, building the mountain movement skills that feed our mountaineering pipeline.

Aero Sports at Chandak

The Chandak ridge above the Soar Valley is one of Kumaon's natural launch points. The ICE has run para-gliding and para-sailing exposure programmes here — eight kilometres from Pithoragarh town, a world above it.

Wildlife & Nature Safaris

The Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary, 54 km from Pithoragarh, is a hidden wildlife corridor — home to musk deer, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, snowcocks, tahr, bharal, cheer pheasants, koklas and chukars.

We lead guided nature walks and safari-style outings through the sanctuary and the high forests around Munsiyari, timed for the best wildlife activity and led by naturalists who know the terrain.

Culture

Village Homestay
& Culture Trails

Live with Rung (Bhotiya) families in the Darma and Johar valleys — Dugtu, Dantu and the old trade villages of Milam and Burfu — communities that carried salt and wool over the Tibet passes for centuries.

Days here mean butter tea, buckwheat rotis cooked over a kitchen fire, and stories of a trade route the border closed but the culture never forgot. No hotel comes close.

Photography & Stargazing Expeditions

Sunrise on all five Panchachuli summits from Dantu. The snow-drawn ॐ on Om Parvat. Adi Kailash mirrored in Parvati Kund. These border valleys hand a camera more than most ranges ever will.

Far from city light pollution, our high routes — Khaliya Top, the Vyas valley, Milam — open onto some of the clearest night skies in the Indian Himalaya. We pace itineraries around golden hour and moonless nights for anyone travelling with a camera or a tripod.
